The BBC is providing plenty of coverage with Sky doing highlights. The one ommission of the live football seems to be the Liverpool v Havant & Waterlooville game. Part time amateurs versus one of the biggest club sides in the world. The good news is that you can catch this game on channels ESPN and Guangdong Sports on SOPCast. For those of you interested the odds on Havant are not bad for a 2 horse race, even if you don't fancy your having a go with your own money if you sign up at Bet365 they'll give you a free bet. I've put mine on Havant (nothing to lose!)

Tottenham 5 - 1 Arsenal
Wednesday, 23 January 2008
Did anybody see this game last night? Isn't it always the way that when a team hasn't been able to beat another team for so long that when they do it's always a complete and utter battering. I guess just as worrying for Arsneal fans would have been seeing some of their own players turn against each other when things went pear shaped. Anyway, it means Tottenham will play either Everton or Chelsea (who play tonight) in the Carling Cup final. If I could choose I'd probably go for a Tottenham, Everton final just because it would make a nice change not to see one of the big 4 in the final of a competition, can't remember how many years it's been since that happened.

There is more cup action this weekend, this time the FA Cup so there will be no Premier League games. Pick of the games will be Man Utd, Tottenham.

Live Saturday Afternoon Premier League Football On Your PC
Saturday, 19 January 2008
These are the Saturday 3pm kick-offs that you'll find streaming live on the internet today:-

Reading - Manchester United, channels Euro Soccer and TV Taroba (in Portugese) on TVAnts.

Fulham - Arsenal, channel Star Sports on both TVAnts and SOPCast as well as Live2 on TVAnts.

Birmingham City - Chelsea, channel True Sports5 on TVAnts.

The are various Live channels (Live2, Live3 etc etc) on TVAnts that all tend to show different games. If you are interested in any of the other 3pm Premier League games then it's always worth browsing through those channels and chances are the game you want will be showing on one of them.

Kevin Keegan (Oops I mean Newcastle) against Bolton is being shown on Setanta Sports live in the UK. As you might have guessed there are a lot of streaming options for watching this one live, Star Sports on either SOPCast or TVAnts is probably the most straight forward option.

The Return Of King Kev
Friday, 18 January 2008
So Kevin Keegan has returned to Newcastle. Sorry to put a dampner on things for you geordies but under Keegan you actually won nothing of any significance at all, I think most people have forgot that? I liked him as a player, thought he was great but as a manager he has to be one of the most over rated names in management. He won nothing with Newcastle then made a giant cluster f*** out of the national team. Oh well, his first game back with Newcastle will be against Bolton, anyone fancy 4-3 to Bolton?

19.01. 15:00 Birmingham - Chelsea
19.01. 15:00 Blackburn - Middlesbrough
19.01. 15:00 Fulham - Arsenal
19.01. 15:00 Portsmouth - Derby
19.01. 15:00 Reading - Manchester Utd
19.01. 15:00 Tottenham - Sunderland
19.01. 17:15 Newcastle - Bolton
20.01. 13:30 Wigan - Everton
20.01. 16:00 Manchester City - West Ham

Don't Forget The Liverpool Luton Replay Tonight
Tuesday, 15 January 2008
Is it just me or is time going by too quickly? It's FA Cup 3rd round replay time already. This means that Luton have their chance on the big stage to cause an almighty upset as they play Liverpool at Anfield. In my opinion when a lower league team earns a replay they always tend to not be able to recreate the magic of the first game and go down quite heavily. In my heart I'd love them to win (there are my adopted second team after all) but my head can see nothing other than a convincing Liverpool win. This are made even worse for Luton by the receiver currently in charge of the club selling 2 players between these FA Cup games.

I've noticed that there are a lot of websites that are charging for watching live football over the internet but you can always watch these games for free you know?

The Liverpool Luton game tonight is being shown live on plenty of channels:-

Shanghai Sports on SOPCast and TVAnts.
Shandong Sports on TVAnts.
Solaris Sport on SOPCast.
LiveSport1 on SOPCast.
Live5 on TVAnts.

Lets All Laugh At Newcastle
Sunday, 13 January 2008
So you sack a top class manager after not much more than half a season when you're in 11th place in arguably the hardest league in the world. Not only that but you are arrogant enough to believe that any manager would want to manage your club. Unlucky Mike Ashley! Considering the playing talent Newcastle have they were over achieving (mainly due to their manager) this season, now without Sam Allardyce they are in deep crap. I was watching Match Of The Day last night and it said they only way for Newcastle was up, are they blind? There are plenty of places below them that they could fill.

Anyway, there are only 2 Premier League games being played today:-

Sunderland play Portsmouth live on Sky Sports 1. Channels Live2 and Live3 on TVAnts are also showing the game.

Bolton play Balckburn which is also showing live on Sky Sports 1 and channel Live2 on TVAnts.

Derby - Wigan, channel Live6 on TVAnts.

West Ham - Fulham channel Live3 on TVAnts

Middlesborough - Liverpool, Star Sports on both SOPCast and TVANts or you can try channel Live7 on TVAnts.

Remember if you don't already have a copy of TVAnts and SOPCast you can get them from
TVAnts-PPstream, it's free software but just remember that watching any sort of internet stream can't compete with watching the game either live in the stadium or on a normal TV, especially if it's broadcast in high definition!

Big Sam Gets The Chop
Friday, 11 January 2008
Who'd have believed it heh, Big Sam Allardyce getting sacked by Newcastle after just over half a season in charge. Whilst it's true that Newcastle haven't really clicked this season I sometimes wonder exactly what the Toon Army expect? They are a big club in terms of support but in every other aspect that are not, sorry, but it's true. In terms of success and trophies during their history it could best be described as limited. It looks like they are now trying to lure another top manager in Harry Redknapp* away from one of the other "smaller" clubs to try and perform miracles. Good luck to them, especially as they face the form team of the moment in Manchester United tomorrow.

* Update: Looks like Harry turned Newcastle down, good on him!

Here's the full Premier League fixtures list for this weekend:-

12.01. 15:00 Arsenal - Birmingham
12.01. 15:00 Aston Villa - Reading
12.01. 15:00 Chelsea - Tottenham
12.01. 15:00 Derby - Wigan
12.01. 15:00 Everton - Manchester City
12.01. 15:00 Middlesbrough - Liverpool
12.01. 15:00 West Ham - Fulham
12.01. 17:15 Manchester Utd - Newcastle
13.01. 13:30 Sunderland - Portsmouth
13.01. 16:00 Bolton - Blackburn

Sky Sports are covering the Sunderland and Bolton games on Sunday. Setanta are showing the Man Utd v Newcastle game and .......(get ready for it)......(big surprise coming up)....(are you excited yet?)....Liverpool game. What a shock.

I'll post details of what games can be viewed live over the internet via TVAnts and SOPCast when I get them.

Luton v Liverpool
Monday, 7 January 2008
Did anybody watch this game yesterday? I've never cheered for a team other than the one I support so much as I did for Luton yesterday. They're in deep financial trouble at the moment, unless some investors can get some money into the club quickly then they are going to go under, to this extent the players are deferring their wages and it looks like nobody at the club is getting paid. It's a bloody shame, I can just about remember when Luton were back in the old First Division playing against the big boys week in and week out. I certainly remember collecting the stickers for my Pannini football sticker book.

So yesterday you've got a team that aren't being paid playing against some of the most expensive players in the country, see if you can guess who was putting their blood, sweat and tears into it? Luton battered Liverpool. They absolutely out-played them in every aspect of the game. What was so surprising was the fact that not only were they out-working the overpaid Premier League stars but that they were also playing the much better football. It was a joy to watch some old school traditional English wing play with forwards that literally covered every blade of grass, the same could not be said about Dirk Kuyt! When Liverpool did score first it was against the run of play and if truth be told nothing more than a bit of tiredness in the Luton defence that gifted it to them. Luton were desperate for at least a draw (in fact a draw may have been the best result for them because of the revenue from a replay and what should also be TV money) but it looked like it was all over. Well it was until 3 minutes later when yet more pressure from Lutons front players resulted in Riise putting the ball into his own net, never has the phrase "justice being done" had so much meaning in football. The final result of a draw and the replay will create enough revenue to keep them going just that little bit longer, the performance should be enough to attract anybody with a bit of money to spend on a football club to get involved, if it doesn't then the world's gone mad.

I'm adopting Luton as my second team and have just sent of for the shirt, I can't afford to buy a football club but I don't mind doing what I can to help. If you value the English game and it's deep traditions then if you can afford it I'd encourage you to do the same.

FA Cup 3rd Round
Friday, 4 January 2008

There are no Premier League games this weekend as it's the 3rd round of the FA Cup. For those of you not familiar with the FA Cup it's seen by many people (including me) as the most exciting cup competition in club football anywhere in the world. Many of the most important moments in my life can be remembered relative to the FA Cup final that year (Chelsea scoring the fastest FA Cup Final Goal, Eric Cantona scoring against Liverpool to win the cup for Man Utd). Last years final was dismal (mainly cos of the 2 teams involved being chickens) but the 3rd round of the FA Cup is always a great watch. This is the point where many of the lower league teams will get the chance to play against top class opposition and the FA Cup has a history of turfing up the odd upset or two! This is the complete list of 3rd round games to be played tomorrow and Sunday:-

Preston v Scunthorpe
Chasetown v Cardiff
Colchester v Peterborough
Bolton v Sheffield United
Blackburn v Coventry
Brighton v Mansfield
Walsall v Millwall
Charlton v West Brom
Watford v Crystal Palace
Luton v Liverpool
Plymouth v Hull
Aston Villa v Manchester United
Tranmere v Hereford
Tottenham v Reading
Burnley v Arsenal
Bristol City v Middlesbrough
Fulham v Bristol Rovers
Huddersfield v Birmingham
Swansea v Havant & Waterlooville
Sunderland v Wigan
Southend v Dagenham & Redbridge
Everton v Oldham
Derby v Sheffield Wednesday
Southampton v Leicester
West Ham v Manchester City
Ipswich v Portsmouth
Wolves v Cambridge
Barnsley v Blackpool
Chelsea v QPR
Stoke v Newcastle
Swindon v Barnet
Norwich v Bury
