| Busy Week |
| Friday, 29 February 2008 |
I've been really busy with work this week so haven't had any time to cover the horror injury to Eduardo (I'm sure everybody would like to wish him all the best for a very speedy recovery), with any luck he'll be back paying football again sooner rather than later. I'm not a fan of Arsenal at all but some things just go above club rivalry.
The other big news was Tottenham winning the Carling Cup, not only did they win but the really deserved it as well. Chelsea were out played for almost the whole game and the amount of Grant haters suddenly crawling out of the woodwork seems to be on the rise. Whilst tactically he might have got it wrong either way with the players Chelsea had on the pitch they should have been more competitive than what they were. Like I said in my opinion Spurs totally outplayed them, very little to do with tactics, more to do with players wanting it more.
So onto this weekends Premier League games. For the first time in a long while we have a full fixture list of the Saturday and Sunday. This weekend could be a pivot point in the title race as well, Arsenal now only have a 3 point lead over Manchester United and all doesn't seem well at the Emirates. I guess how they react this week might go quite a way to deciding where the Premier League title will go.
01.03. 15:00 Arsenal - Aston Villa 01.03. 15:00 Birmingham - Tottenham 01.03. 15:00 Derby - Sunderland 01.03. 15:00 Fulham - Manchester Utd 01.03. 15:00 Middlesbrough - Reading 01.03. 15:00 Newcastle - Blackburn 01.03. 15:00 West Ham - Chelsea 01.03. 17:15 Manchester City - Wigan 02.03. 13:30 Bolton - Liverpool 02.03. 16:00 Everton - Portsmouth |

| Carling Cup Final - Spurs v Chelsea |
| Friday, 22 February 2008 |
| Don't forget that it's the Carling Cup final on Sunday. Kick-off is 3pm British time where Tottenham will be trying their hardest to put a new name on a trophy. Surely everybody must be getting sick off Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea winning everything by now?! Good luck Spurs! |

| European Hangover Anybody? |
|
So as the first games of the knock-out stages of the Champions League are now out of the way it's the traditional time for the Premier League teams to suffer a European hangover. Whilst all the British representatives did well (Liverpool getting the best result) it will nice to get back to the much quicker English game, I know that I enjoy watching Premier League games much more than the Champions League.
So here's this weekends Premier League games:-
23.02. 12:45 Birmingham - Arsenal 23.02. 15:00 Fulham - West Ham 23.02. 15:00 Liverpool - Middlesbrough 23.02. 15:00 Portsmouth - Sunderland 23.02. 15:00 Wigan - Derby 23.02. 17:15 Newcastle - Manchester Utd 24.02. 12:30 Reading - Aston Villa 24.02. 15:00 Blackburn - Bolton 25.02. 20:00 Manchester City - Everton
Sky Sports will be showing Birmingham - Arsenal and Man City - Everton. I think Setanta are showing Newcastle - Man Utd.
As always I'll try and update over the weekend with details of the games available on SOPCast and TVAnts. |

| More English Teams In Champions League Action Tonight |
| Wednesday, 20 February 2008 |
Getting knocked out of the FA Cup by Barnsley one minute, beating an Inter Milan team that haven't lost since last September the next, it could only be Liverpool. To be fair it was a very one sided match once Inter were reduced to 10 men. They seemed very lazy and happy to just defend the 18 year box without pressing so they can have no argument over losing 2-0.
Another 2 English teams play in the second round of the Champions League tonight, Manchester United are away to Lyon whilst Arsenal play the holders AC Milan at home.
All the games (Arsenal - Milan, Fenerbache - Sevilla, Celtic - Barcelona and Lyon - Manchester United) are being across multiple channels on both the SOPCast and TVAnts applications. |

| Is Benitez Getting Sacked? |
| Tuesday, 19 February 2008 |
I've been speaking to quite a lot of Liverpool supporters over the last few days and it's been quite a shock to see how they've turned on the manager. Only a few weeks ago Benitez could do no wrong and it was the American owners that were the problem, ever since being knocked out of the FA Cup by Barnsley that seems to have changed.
Tonight in the Champions League second round Liverpool play an Inter Milan team that is widely regarded as the best team in Italy at the moment. I guess that the future of Rafa Benitez at Liverpool could largely depend on which Liverpool team turn up to play tonight. If Liverpool do lose then most of the Liverpool fans I've been speaking to would expect him to be sacked anytime in the next 2 weeks.
As an outsider my opinion is that other than a few lucky (yes they were more luck than judgement) cup results the Liverpool team now is no better than when Benitez took over. It's not like he hasn't been given his fair share of spends either but an insistence on buying second rate Spanish players from his homeland may be his downfall. It looks like jobs for the boys is not the best way of managing a football club. In saying that though it would be no real surprise if Liverpool do go on to beat Inter tonight, it just goes to show how inconsistent they are.
For anyone interested there are 4 Uefa Champions League 2nd round games being played tonight:-
Schalke - Porto, shown on channel Live5 on TVAnts
Roma - Real Madrid, CT2 on TVAnts
Olympiakos - Chelsea, Star Sports on TVAnts and SOPCast as well as channel Live3 on TVAnts.
Liverpol - Inter Milan, amongst the many channels showing this, Shanghai Sports on SOPCast and TVAnts, GuangDong Sports on SOPCast. |

| FA Cup 5th Round Live |
| Saturday, 16 February 2008 |
No Premier League action today because it's FA Cup 5th Round weekend. No doubting the big game today as Arsenal take on Man Utd at Old Trafford. In a year when more Premier League teams have been knocked out in the earlier rounds than many previous years this is going to result in yet another of the favourites going out early. Maybe this year wil be the year of a FA Cup upset.
FA Cup 5th Round Games
16.02. 12:30 Bristol Rovers - Southampton 16.02. 15:00 Cardiff - Wolves 16.02. 15:00 Chelsea - Huddersfield 16.02. 15:00 Coventry - West Brom 16.02. 15:00 Liverpool - Barnsley 16.02. 17:15 Manchester Utd - Arsenal 17.02. 14:00 Sheffield Utd - Middlesbrough 17.02. 16:00 Preston - Portsmouth
The BBC are showing Bristol Rovers - Southampton (as I type) and also the big Manchester United - Arsenal game this evening.
Tomorrow the BBC have Sheffield Utd - Middelsborough whilst Sky Sports are chipping in with Preston - Portsmouth.
Live on the internet the FA Cup receives great coverage:-
Bristol Rovers - Southampton, channels Star Sports, Shanghai Sports and Guangdong Sports on both TVAnts and SOPCast amongst the many available.
Liverpool - Barnslay, Star Sports on SOPCast TVAnts and channel viasat sport 1 on SOPCast.
Chelsea - Huddersfield, ESPN on SOPCast, Shanghai Sports on TVAnts and SOPCast.
Manchester United - Arsenal, just about every sports channel on both SOPCast and TVAnts you can find. |

| Premier League Goes International |
| Friday, 8 February 2008 |
Well not this week is doesn't but if you believed everything in the press you'd think it was a done deal! To be honest I think this is inevitable, with the amount of American owners of Premier League teams and the recent playing of that so called sport (American Football) in the UK how long would it be before people thought of cashing in? The Premier League is X times more popular as a spectacle than the meat heads bumping into each other in America so it only makes sense that the amount of money to be made would be X time more!
Anyway, onto this weekend’s Premier League games, and there are some big ones in there:-
09.02. 12:45 Aston Villa - Newcastle 09.02. 15:00 Bolton - Portsmouth 09.02. 15:00 Derby - Tottenham 09.02. 15:00 Everton - Reading 09.02. 15:00 Middlesbrough - Fulham 09.02. 15:00 Sunderland - Wigan 09.02. 15:00 West Ham - Birmingham 10.02. 13:30 Manchester Utd - Manchester City 10.02. 16:00 Chelsea - Liverpool
Just in case anybody had forgot it is the 50th Anniversary of the Munich air disaster that effected Manchester United so much, expect the Manchester derby on Sunday to take on added significance. Although Liverpool appear to have written themselves out of them title race you should also expect the Chelsea Liverpool game to be a cracker! |
